- Extant-Animal species that are alive today (opposite of extinct)
- Sediment-Material, including rock, sand, and mud, that forms layers at the bottom of waterways

- A crocodilian is a name for any member of the order of the reptiles that are crocodiles, alligators or caimans.
- The crocodilian was a freshwater animal but it mostly lived on land.
- The crocodilian's fossils were found around Lake Manuherikia.
- THey researchers started digging in Christchurch, St Bathans, and Dunedin.
- A core sampling is one of the ways a geologist's " look" at layers of materials
