The New Zealand Crocodile

The New Zealand Crocodile

Reading Response
1. Read and write 3 words you didn't know and find the definition.

  • Extant-Animal species that are alive today (opposite of extinct)
  • Sediment-Material, including rock, sand, and mud, that forms layers at the bottom of waterways
  • Migrate-Move from one area to another, especially regularly.
2. Write down 5 things you learned:

  • A crocodilian is a name for any member of the order of the reptiles that are crocodiles, alligators or caimans.
  • The crocodilian was a freshwater animal but it mostly lived on land.
  • The crocodilian's fossils were found around Lake Manuherikia.
  • THey researchers started digging in Christchurch, St Bathans, and Dunedin.
  • A core sampling is one of the ways a geologist's " look" at layers of materials
